Anthony Etyang
Associate Professor
I trained in Internal Medicine and Epidemiology. My research interest is in hypertension. My current studies specifically examine the pros and cons of different methods of blood pressure measurement on the epidemiology and clinical management of hypertension. I am also testing the hypothesis that previous exposure to malaria is associated with higher blood pressure using a Mendelian randomization approach.

Unmasking hypertension - the silent killer
Anthony studies hypertension in Kenya and The Gambia, focusing on improving diagnosis, treatment, and blood pressure control. His research addresses low awareness and treatment gaps, aiming to prevent severe outcomes like stroke and heart failure. With over 25% of adults affected, his work targets a major cause of premature death in Africa.
