Philippa Johnstone

Senior Programme Manager

I joined PSI in 2023 and provide senior programme management support for the Africa Pandemic Sciences Collaborative, a $70 million initiative funded by the Mastercard Foundation and delivered in collaboration with the Science for Africa Foundation in Nairobi.

Before moving to Oxford I held management roles at Imperial College and then at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, where I worked with colleagues across Sub-Saharan Africa on a large EDCTP-funded clinical and capacity-strengthening initiative. I also spent 18 months at the Royal Society delivering events and programmes.

I have a BSc in Geography from the University of Bristol and an MSc in Public Policy and Management from SOAS, University of London. I also hold the ACCA Certificate in Public Financial Management and the C2 Diplôme approfondi de language française.

I am a certified Mental Health First Aider and am always happy to be approached during work hours.
