WHO AFRO/TDR Impact Grants for Implementation Research. Deadline: 15 September 2026
The WHO Regional Office for Africa (AFRO) and TDR are offering grants for country-led implementation research addressing health priorities in the WHO African Region. The call aims to strengthen health systems, improve access to health interventions and generate evidence that can be translated into policy and practice.
Priority areas include person-centred primary healthcare; health systems strengthening, innovation and digital transformation; and environmental health, climate change, One Health and emerging threats. Projects should focus on implementation research relevant to infectious diseases of poverty.
Eligibility
Research must be conducted in the WHO African Region. The Principal Investigator and most of the research team must be based at an institution in an African Region country or territory. Applicants must also demonstrate experience in operational and/or implementation research.
Applications are particularly encouraged from early-career researchers, women and applicants from least-developed countries.
Awards
Up to US$15,000 per grant, for projects lasting up to 12 months. Projects must be completed by the end of 2027.
