In Xie and Evans (1984), the authors presented an adaptive control algorithm for deterministic time-varying systems based on the use of a restricted complexity time-varying model and on the use of a simple resetting procedure. In Xie and Evans (1983 a) the authors extended this work to the stochastic case. This brief report establishes the deterministic convergence of an adaptive control algorithm for time-varying systems presented in Xie and Evans (1983 a) under the assumptions that the parameters of the plant are linearly time-varying and phi (t) is persistently exciting.
