In this paper challenges of integrating millimetre-ave bandpass filters on CMOS are discussed. A new compact 57-66GHz 4th-order cross-coupled SIR-MH bandpass filter was designed and fabricated on 0.13μm bulk CMOS. Both simulation and measurement results are presented. The measurement results show 8.5GHz bandwidth from 58-66.5GHz, 5.9dB insertion loss, and better than 10dB return loss over the whole passband. The filter reported in this paper has higher selectivity and is 80 percent smaller than other designs reported in the literature. This paper demonstrates the feasibility of building compact millimetre-wave integrated bandpass filters on CMOS. © 2008 EuMA.
