The problem of designing radar detection filters with constrained output sidelobe levels is considered. A method for designing sidelobe reduction filters which are robust in the sense that their properties are still satisfactory despite perturbations in the input signal shape is presented. It is shown how the techniques can be applied to the problem of designing robust filters as above but with the additional property that their response to certain undesirable signals is poor.
