This paper provides an extensive review of techniques currently used for target detection and tracking in low SNR environments where conventional tracking techniques are inadequate. Similarities and differences between the various approaches are highlighted, with extensive reference to current literature. Applications are given for tracking in image sequences, radar and sonar.
