This paper extends our earlier work on the application of hidden Markov models (HMM's) to the problem of multiple frequency line tracking using the concept of a mixed track. Here we introduce an alternative definition of measurement vector which avoids the use of thresholds and is shown to yield superior performance to threshold based schemes. We also present an improved method for separating the mixed track into its component tracks. © 1993 IEEE
