Adaptive controller for the Australia telescope
Sciacca LJ., Evans RJ., Betz RE., Cooper DN.
Present adaptive controller implementations have limitations in their use due to requirements of sufficient excitation. This results in complex solutions that do not lend well to antenna tracking systems. The Australia Telescope, a large array of radio antennae, called for a close examination of servo controller and structural related design due to the strict tracking specifications. We discuss these issues and present an adaptive controller based on derivative feed-forward control and the MIT-Rule that has performed well when applied to the tracking antenna problem.
